Swiggy Joins Hands With IRCTC To Offer Pre-Ordered Meals At Select Railway Stations

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) announced a collaboration with Swiggy on Thursday. The partnership aims to facilitate the supply and delivery of pre-ordered meals via IRCTC's e-catering portal, as revealed in a market filing by IRCTC.

While the exact launch date of the new service at eligible stations remains unconfirmed, IRCTC assured that it will be rolled out "soon." Initially, the food delivery service will be introduced at four major railway stations, including Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam.

According to IRCTC's statement, customers can place their orders through the IRCTC e-catering portal. The collaboration with Swiggy Foods for the supply and delivery of pre-ordered meals marks a Proof of Concept (PoC) initiative in the first phase.

In related news, Swiggy recently expanded its services to Agatti island in Lakshadweep, making it the first online food delivery service to operate there. Partnering with AFC Fried Chicken, City Hotel, and Mubarak Hotel, Swiggy offers a variety of cuisines to customers. The deliveries, made on bicycles, prioritize eco-friendly service. To celebrate the launch, Swiggy has announced special launch discounts of up to 50 per cent, capped at Rs 100, on first orders, aiming to attract more users to its platform.
