DGGI Slams Indian Food Techs Zomato, Swiggy For Rs 7.5 Bn Unpaid Taxes

Reportedly, the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has issued a notice to Indian food delivery startups – Zomato and Swiggy demanding a tax payment of Rs 4 billion and Rs 3.5 billion respectively, according to CNBC-TV18’s recent reports.
The report added that the delivery of a service on which, both companies are liable to pay goods and services tax (GST) of almost six years from July 2017 to March 2023.
Zomato and Swiggy have not officially commented on the matter.
Founded in 1979 the DGGI a law enforcement agency under the Ministry of Finance is responsible for fighting tax evasion in India.
